Eurofurence 18 - looking for DJs!
Eurofurence 18 is looking for DJs!

Are you a DJ? Do you want to play at the largest European furry convention? Here's your chance!

As most of you may have noticed, things are a little different at Eurofurence. We have fewer dances and fewer DJs than most conventions, but on the other hand, our dances are longer than any other convention dances, and our attendees are indestructable!

To make up for the lack of dances on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, we introduced the Piano-Bar dances last year. It was an experiment, something new we tried (seeing as how we can't have dances at this time on the main stage due to scheduling), and I think I can say it was a big success. LET'S DO THIS AGAIN!

We are looking for DJs who want to spin at night time in the Piano bar. Now this is not your average rave-type of dance. It's a dimly lit bar without fancy light effects, fog or lasers. Also, the volume is not going to be maxxed out since we want people to either dance or just sit and chat while having a drink. What we will have is an awesome audience that will enjoy your sets, so this is your chance!

The Bar-dances will start around night time on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. On Thursday and Saturday, there won't be dances in the bar since on those days we'll have the big main-stage dances, and the bar will offer alternative programming at this time.

If you know your House, Rock, Dance, Chill-Out, you're the one we're looking for!

Please send audition sets to: bigbluefox@gmail.com. Deadline for the auditions is July 1st, 2012.

Friends (EF attendees), me need your help please :)
Advertizing for my mom's butterfly lanyards at EF for the last time!! please read :)

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    From my own FA:

    http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6317896/
These are Chinese knotting butterfly lanyards I helped mom advertize, and will be on sale during EF next week at [info]jdpuppy's table, more variety colors of butterflies will be available at the con (and it goes with the theme!!)

How the lanyard looks like in previous post
    http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6139167

"Chinese knots are one of the many traditional Chinese folk arts, people actually wore the art on clothing and on hair in the past: "Chinese knotting (Chinese: 中國結; pinyin: Zhōngguó jié) is a decorative handicraft art that began as a form of Chinese folk art in the Tang and Song Dynasty (960-1279 AD) in China. It was later popularized in the Ming). The art is also referred to as Chinese traditional decorative knots.[1] In other cultures, it is known as "Decorative knots".

Chinese knots are usually lanyard type arrangements where 2 cords enter from the top of the knot and 2 cords leave from the bottom. The knots are usually double-layered and symmetrical." (from Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_knots )

EF is about a month away, and since the theme is Asian KUNG FUR HUSTLE! I have had this idea ask my mom to make these Chinese knots 中國結 for lanyard. (she used to teach it at schools!)
    What is Chinese knotting?

We are mainly going to make style A though D, we are not so sure about E and F but do let me know if you are interested :)
I don't have much marketing nor commission experiences, here are some questions raised and hopefully anyone who reads don't mind share a bit of thought and help me out please

    1. Which one(s) you like the most?
    2. How much would you be welling to spend on one of these? (US dollar vs Euro)
    3. I am not going to EF, should we sell these as commission based, individually to EF goers? Or should we mass produce each style and then send it to someone who's a has a table at EF for sell?
    4. If we end up send them to sell at EF, can someone recommend me any dealers who probably wouldn't mind putting these up at his or her table please?
    5. Would you like to get one even if you are not attending EF this year?
    6. Any other comments or suggestions~~

    Thank you for reading :3

    SlyCat's Eurofurence 16 Video
    Cross posted from my LJ:

I'm happy to announce that I have finally completed my EF16 video. I'm slightly ashamed that it's taken me 3/4 of a year to do it but I've got there in the end :)

Note, that'll play in HD in full screen :)

The main reasons for the delay in me getting the video done were due to me being unhappy with the footage. I filmed 2 hours worth and still felt I didn't have what I needed to make a coherent video like I did with my Confuzzled 2010 video. Also, due to the generally poor light in the Eurofurence hotel, most of the footage is dark and noisy, and also has random vertical lines every now and then. Next time I'll certainly be using a purpose made camcorder rather than a camera (although that said, again my CF2010 video was filmed with the same camera and that came out fine).

As I chose not to do title cards this time, here's the chapters of the video:

00:00 Rallicat, FoxB & Orona discuss an alternative BBF style video
    00:29 Hotel Tour
    03:37 Fursuiting Shenanigans
    07:06 Jingo Montage
08:36 DJ Kenai's Friday Night Dance
    12:38 Group Photo
    13:17 More Fursuiting Shenanigans
15:26 Blacksnip Promotes the UK Furry Conventions
    16:04 Fursuit Parade
    20:53 Even More Fursuiting Shenanigans
22:27 DJ BBF's Sunday Night Dance
    25:35 Credits

Uncle Kage vs. André Oppitz... Just a dumb american. ;)
    Hello,

I made a short video of the reunion between Uncle Kage and André Oppitz (The hairless master of alcohol) at Eurofurence 16.

Uncle Kage surprised André as Gunther at the Suhlvester 2008/2009 new years party. 2010 at Eurofurence 16 André gets his revenge on Kage! ;)

    Early bird rate
This is a friendly reminder that the discounted 80€ early bird rate ends on January 31st!

Starting February 1st, the regular convention fee of 90€ will be in effect. It will apply to all registrations received after January 31st and to all registrations for which the convention fee is overdue by January 1st, or becomes overdue after that.

That means you have less than one week left to register or pay your remaining dues for registrations made before January 24th, if you want to take advantage of the early bird rebate. Book early - mind the due dates - save money!

(Edit: Payments delayed by the unavailability of CC transactions are not affected by this, of course. That's implicit because they get their deadlines extended accordingly, and thus their payables never become overdue, but as it seems things like that can't be taken for granted any more these days, so rest assured we're not going to rip you off.)

    Expenses question...
I'm from the US, and would love to go to EF next year. Any fellow americans who can tell me what I should expect for the entire thing; airfare, rooms, living expenses, everything? I know it varies year to year, and I'd probably throw it off entirely by attempting to go visit family in italy after... but it would really help to know what its been like for people coming from the US. Thanks!

    Never post opinions about Eurofurence
It only leads to getting bashed for your honest opinion and feelings. I posted how I felt about Kage begging for money for 2, and got bitched by Eurofurence staff about it, I posted my opinion after Nightfox asked me personally to comment about EF 16, and the same thing again.

I am very disappointed in this.
