"Attendance Only" Memberships are now available

Hi everyone!

Due to the overwhelming demand, we have decided to allow up to 50 extra
registrations that go beyond our regular capacity. Because we have a hard limit of 390 beds, these extra memberships will be "attendance only", and do not include accomodation and food.

This special offer is only available upon request. If you want to take advantage of this special offer please register normally, and write us an email afterwards. We'll then change your status.

What does it include and what does it cost?

  • The regular "attendance only" membership is available for 90 EUR until April 1st, and 100 EUR after that. You can also combine "sponsor" and "attendance only" for an extra 50 EUR on top of that.

  • You'll have to bring your own food, you're not entitled to take part in any of the scheduled meals. (Of course you'll be able to sit together with your friends in the dining hall, however you won't get any food tokens.)

  • There will be no bed reserved for you. You'll have to find a place to sleep outside the youth hostel. ("Overstaffing" of bedrooms in the youth hostel is not allowed.)

  • Aside from the aforementioned limitations, you have full membership privileges, which allows you to spend as much time at the venue as you like and take part in all scheduled events.

  • This offer is limited to 50 extra spaces. We really can't squeeze any more people in, no matter how much we want to. Sorry!

How to apply

  • If you're newly registered and/or on the waiting list, simply write an email to cheetah@tigress.com, stating your nickname and registration number.

  • Taking advantage of an "attendance only" membership will immediately get you off the waiting list.

How to downgrade

  • If you're already a registered member and NOT on the waiting list, you can "downgrade" to a "attendance only" membership. Just write an email to cheetah@tigress.com, stating your nickname and registration number.

  • If you've already paid, the excess amount will be reimbursed in cash when you check in at the first day of the con.

  • Downgrades are available as long as there is at least one person
left on the waiting list to fill the resulting vacancy.

Hotels

We have compiled a list of affordable hotels that might be worth checking out. For more information and online reservation, please use THIS link :)

These two are our personal recommendations (that means we actually KNOW these hotels). Although you'll have to make up your mind if they're in your personal price range, and if you'd rather stay in a place that is a little bit closer, as they're not in walking range.

EUROHOTEL & SUITES Nürnberg
  Kaulbachstr. 1
  242 beds
  SB: 55 - 185 EUR | DB: 75 - 240 EUR

  Hotel garni am Park
  Am Stadtpark 5
  58 beds
  SB: 43 - 69 EUR | DZ: 60 - 86 EUR

These places are in walking range of the con site, but propably short on parking space:

  43 beds
  SB: 59 - 79 EUR | DB: 79 - 109 EUR

  Hotel garni Am Schönen Brunnen

  Pension Garni Altstadt
  Hintere Ledergasse 4
  20 beds
  SB: 33 EUR | DB: 53 EUR

  Hotel garni "Haus Vosteen"
  Lindenaststr. 12
  18 beds
  SB: 48 - 88 | DB: 74 - 94

  Hotel garni Albrecht Dürer
  Bergstr. 25
  12 beds
  SB: 45 EUR | DB: 65 EUR

A little farther away (reachable with Tram Line 4), but
propably with better parking conditions:

  Ibis Hotel Nürnberg Centrum
  Steinbühler Str. 2
  313 beds
  SB: 49 - 103 | DB: 49 - 112

  Hotel Leonardo Nürnberg
  Zufuhrstr. 22
  192 beds
  SB: 51 - 141 | DB: 71 - 161

  Motel One (Eröffnung Mai/Juni)
  Steinbühler Straße 13
  131 rooms
  SB 45,- € / DB 51,- €

And for those who really want it dirt cheap ...

  Hostel for Backpackers Lette'm Sleep
  Frauentormauer 42
  68 rooms
  SB 30 EUR | DB: 44 - 52 EUR

... but be aware that this place is not more than a cheap space to crash, and that it's not really situated in the nicest part of the city!

I've personally stayed on numerous occasions at the IBIS Königstor and the IBIS Marientor in 2005 and can happily recommend both hostels. The Königstor is priced slightly higher than the Marientor (€ 57 vs. €49), but both are definitely closer to the city centre than the IBIS Centrum.

Regarding budget accomodation, there still is the ETAP Nürnberg City south of the station, at € 39 for a double, probably better than a hostel (though you need to use the U-Bahn to get there).

Well, the part of the city the Lette'm Sleep is located is in fact quite nice, if you don't mind that it is also the red light district... :-)

The other Ibises might be closer to the city per se, however it is a bit complicated to describe how to get to the youth hostel from there and the way isn't that much shorter -- if you decide to walk. From the Plärrer (or Kohlenhof) you can use the tram 4 to Tiergärtnertor, walk up 200 m the hill, cross the moat at the beer garden ("Hexenhäusla"), go through the tunnel below the castle garden and voila, you are there. The problem is that you might need to walk to the hotel (or take a taxi) late at night, as the tram operates just till approx. half past twelve AM.

For the prices: chances are that the rooms are in fact significantly cheaper as August is way off-season for Nuremberg and no fair or other big events that drive up the rates have been announced for that period of time.

BTW, Google Local has launched for Central Europe today. You can look up the location of the hotels here.

Yet another lame self-reply...

I've created Google Earth descriptions and tracks for the ways from the Euro Hotel (violet line) and the tram stop Tiergärtnertor (red line) to the youth hostel. The file also contains placemarks of the most important subway stations and tram stops. You can download it from http://yaina.de/~owolf/Eurofurence12.kml

Just out of curiosity (Im a big cat :) ) How many registrations "staying" ones anyway are still outstanding payment, For people on the waiting list I guess it would be nice to know if there is any hope what so ever. enquiring for a friend

Currently, 23 people are marked as "overdue" in the registration system. However, many of them will propably have made some or other arrangement with the reg department concerning their payment, so it's unlikely we'll see 23 cancellations any time soon :)

And of course there's DJH Erlangen, and also some kind of camping place there for even cheaper, and I bet there are more Jugendherbergen in Nuremberg and Furth too

Google, people, Google!

Re: "Attendance Only"

Hi Dal' Noc,

I've just checked the database, and you're properly registered as "attendance only" guest. You should have received an email with payment details and stuff ... if you haven't, please reply to this comment, and I'll look into it!

yours,

Cheetah
